my medication addiction

Because of my alcohol problem, I often woke up at night drenched in sweat and suffered from serious sleeping disorders. To treat these and my depressive states, the doctor prescribed sleeping pills and tranquilizers. Gradually, I increased the dosage and intensified their effect with alcohol. Soon, I was addicted. I swallowed huge amounts of pills and even injected the alcohol-medication mix into my veins.

At the age of seventeen, I was admitted to the hospital for the first time due to a drug overdose. Later, I became a regular visitor because of alcohol poisoning and overdoses. During such stays, I often sneaked into the hospital pharmacy and helped myself to the medicine cabinet. I also took medications and entire prescription pads from doctors' offices.

I liked to mix medications with alcohol and drugs, once combining three-quarters of a liter of "Jägermeister" with 30 sleeping pills and a shot of heroin. It’s a miracle that nothing serious happened.
